Upper Limb Redundancy Control

In this research, we worked on control of supernumerary appendages that utilizes the redundant degrees of freedom in the human body. In the past, research on control of supernumerary appendages has used existing body parts such as limbs. However, these studies have the disadvantage of restricting the motion of existing body parts.

In this study, among the redundant degrees of freedom that humans have, we focused on the shoulder area in particular, and investigated control method that reduces the inhibition of the motion of existing body parts.
